Big news of the day is we got to use President Jakob's canoes and everyone went canoeing. Chris, Jonathan and Daphne in one canoe. Evie and Suzy in another. Bonnie and I brought up the rear. Paddled around the Elk Lake bridge and up Makobie River to where I caught my stuffed 39" pike. But the biggest event was when we landed. Bonnie wanted to help Chris lift his canoe out of the water. However, she lost her balance and SPLISH, SPLASH, in she went!!
Everyone went blueberry picking today except me. They picked for about 30 minutes and they got 15 to 16 cups of berries. Betty Crocker is supposed to bake us some pies tomorrow. Can't wait for that. She stopped by today and made some homemade brownies. YUM!!
Bonnie: I wanted to take a swim in the river this summer but it hasn't been warm enough for me. I guess this "dip" in the river will have to do!! I'm grateful it was shallow and a soft landing! We did have fun picking the berries. There were tons to pick. Tomorrow I will make a pie and some tarts. It was also fun canoeing. The place where Bob caught that pike is a very pretty area.
Also, Daphne caught a toad which she named Francesco Bob. She put it in a cooler, complete with river water to drink, bugs to eat, and leaves and dirt where it could hide. Unfortunately it only lasted until about 10:00 pm. He kept trying to escape and it kept the kids awake.
