Bonnie: Today we spent the day in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It's truly a national treasure! We watched a short movie that was very emotional (for me, anyway) and then looked at a "colorama" of the battle at Gettysburg. It is a huge circular painting that fills a large room. Then we took a bus tour of the battleground sites. This took over two hours.and was so interesting. After that, we listened to a park ranger talk about Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address while looking at the National Cemetery area. We had just enough time to see some of the many artifacts in the museum before it closed. I'd like to see it again because there wasn't enough time for me to see all I wanted. The battle at Gettysburg was a decisive one but it cost so many lives! Freedom really isn't free!
Yesterday was also fun. Of course, chocolate is always fun. The part I enjoyed the most was tasting chocolate from 7 different places in the world. Amazingly, there is quite a difference between each one.
Bob: Gettysburg is always an awesome experience. The tour bus driver said that over 50% of the visitors to Gettysburg come back 5 times!! It is an inspiring experience. This battle changed the history of the United States. If the Union soldiers had fallen here who knows what type of government we might be living under today.
